In the high school (1996..1999) I made some GNOME applications. Currently they are unmaintained, so most likely they are unusable for you.
Cloned Xunzip is successor for GNOME Xunzip. It is a simple graphical application for uncompressing Zip-archives.
GNOME Disk Catalog is designed for Zip disk/CD-ROM organization. It reads contents of every disk and stores them in its internal database. One can then make all kind of queries to the database and locate files easily.
